Half term week and we decided to try Austria for our ski trip rather than the usual France. Our apartment has been booked out to other people so the cost was a little offset. We got the NCT gang back together with the DeNapolis and the Flemings with us. We deliberately wanted to go slightly higher end than self catered but couldn’t justify the fully catered option. We settled for hotel/apartment accommodation with the intention we would eat out most days.
The hotel was really nice, modern and the room arrangement – although would have maybe been better if we’d have had nearer by rooms – was great and evening activities of cards and kids playing Switch or iPad games worked well with the multiple rooms.
Skiing was great, although did take a little while to get up to the slopes in the morning since you needed to take three or so lifts before starting to ski. Snow conditions were amazing, blue skies pretty much every day and for the first few days almost zero queues for any lifts. Towards the end of the week, the queues built up a bit but so long as you queued well and were flexible where you skied the impact wasn’t too bad.
On Thursday we decided to visit a near by spa which had loads of different pools and a water slide. We skied hard in the morning then headed down the mountain, changed and spent a lovely three hour session in the pools chilling.
Evening activities included Hearts, Nomination Whist and one day Codenames with all the kids too.
